Pursuant to the authority granted to promulgate rules in accordance with the American Samoa Code Annotated section 25.0604(c), the American Samoa Medical Center Authority intends to establish a new rule in the American Samoa Administrative Code, Title 25, Chapter 02 to allow the Department to adopt the US Food Code as a guide which is administered by the US Food and Drug Administration for the purposes of determining labeling requirements and quality standards of food products.
The proposed amendments are set out below. The underlined text represents the proposed new changes.
AMERICAN SAMOA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE TITLE 25, CHAPTER 02
Section 1: A new section 25.0208 of the American Samoa Administrative Code is inserted to read as follows:
"25.0208 Labeling of foods and beverages.
The standards of the United States Food Code administered by the United States Food and Drug Administration, as amended from time to time, may be used as a guide for the purposes of determining labeling requirements and quality standards of food products pursuant to A.S.C.A. § 25.0604(c).
